ARRIVAL OF THE SHIP GAINSBORO' FROM LONDON

This ship, after a long passage of 118 days arrived at the outer on Thursday evening. She i"is"chartered by the New Zealand' Shipping Company; for the outward;; voyage only. She left London on Octoher 23rd, Bnd whb towed to Plymouth, where the 1 immigrants were embarked, and she sailed from the: latter portion' thei 3rd November,1 with 2^6 statute adults. , There have been six births and two deaths ' during, the passage. The Nelson passengers will be landed to-day, they number only 15; the baliapoo ire apportioned as folio ws '••.•—7Bi for -Wellington, 63 ( for Westland, 48 for Marlborougb, and 15£ for Hawke's Bay. The lengthened: passage was, caused | through adverse winds at the commencement of the voyage,,;the ship being v 4O, days at sea,j before ;she erosßed the equator; moderate winds were experienced until February the- 19th, when a strong nor'■wester, took thb bowsprit, jibboom, foretopi topgallant, and mainroyal wasts out of her, An endeavor was ' made to save the spars, but they had to be out adrift. jA jury topmast and bowsprit ,were rigged, but, they will nft doubt have to be replaced before the authorities will allow her to proceed to Wellington with5 suoh a number of passengers*, The immigrants are a < fine healthy lot, and speak highly of the treatment they have received both from the doctor and officers. She has no cargo'for Nelson, and, therefore,,will not' come in the harbor, unless it should be for repairs.; ,
