ARRIVAL OF THE CELESTIAL QUEEN, FROM LONDON.
The barque Celestial Queen, from London, arrive •off the Lighthouse on Tuesday afternoon. Captai - Gaster reports having left London on Noveajbf 3rd, and anchored in the Dovrna on the Bth, wit ttrong S.W. winds prevailing; on the night of th 11th and morning of the 12th experienced a fearfi ««lt|frQn 8,9, W wttb'lmifio iw, the itvpridiu
with 120 fathoms on the port cables and 90 on the Btarboard. 3everal vessels parted their cables and, others slipped, signals of distress all round us, and; I four vessels on shore. The Cutty Sark had to slip and return to London. The American barque Oritani, which was riding ahead of us, commenced driving, and pnssed within a fathom of our boom ' end and hooked our cable with her anchor, which | prevented her driving further j at daylight, the weather moderating, she commenced getting one of her anchors, and succeeded in doing so in the after--1 noon; and on trying to'weigh her other anchor to ■ shift, she drove down close to our port quarter, and f bad to slip her cable. The Celestial Queen bus-. tamed no damage. On the morning of the 14th, lefb the Downs with a light westerly wind, and brought up at Dungeness on the 15th ; left again on the night of the 16th, with a light northerlj wind, i ond got as far as the Isle of Wight, when the wind i set in from the S.W. again ; on the 19th, got as far as the Start, when a violent gale commenced; on the 22nd, still off the Start, with a violent gale and heavy sea, bore up for Portland, and anchored there at 4 p.m, until Ist December, during a succession W. and S.W. gales ; on that day, at 7 a.m, left Portland with a northerly wind, and at tniduight i passed the Lizard lights 5 had a troublesome time in crossing the Bay of Biscay, experiencing a week of light and strong variable wind from the a. and W.; on the 9th, got a strong wind from the northward, which carried her (having moderated) into the N.B. trades ; lost the trades on the 21st, in lat. 5 N., and after having the usual light winds to the Equator, crossed it on the night of the 27th, in loiig. 29"30 W.; experienced a very light S.E trade; passed and Bighted JTernando de Moronha on the afternoon of the 29th ; crossed the meridian of Greenwich on January 20th, in 45£ S, and the Cape on the night of the 23rd ; ran the easting down in from 49 t0.51 S, with moderate winds from the N. to W. ; passed an iceberg on the 30th, in long. 57 E, and on the afternoon of Ist February passed to the southward and sighted Kerguelens Island, having experienced no heavy weather while running down our easting. Since passing Korguelen Island have experienced the wind light and variable, aad altogether have had a very fine passage of 86 days from Portland. There has been no sickness during the voyage,
