It is reported that Mr. E. C. Creighton assumes the Editorship of the Daily Times at the end of the month.

Mr. Eolleston addressed his constituents last night, his speech occupying two hours. He much regretted that Mr. Vogel was leaving for England at a time when his presence here was extremely necessary. He pointed out that the contributions to the revenue of the Colony by Canterbury and Otago nearly equalled the contributions of the rest of the Colony. He condemned Mr. Vogel's threat of a dissolution as unconstitutional, and repeated the chief arguments used against the abolition resolutions, Baying that the time was inopportune, and that the people should have been consulted. A unanimous vote of confidence was passed.

Mr Montgomery addressed the electors m the Town Hall, Akaroa, on Saturday night. There was a large attendance, and the Superintendent was present, In reference to the abolition of the Provinces, he spoke strongly against so large a Constitional change being introduced without the people being first consulted. He contrasted the General Government expenditure with the Provincial aud its results, alleging that Mr Voge! would not get less expensive or more effective machinery. At the conclusion a unanimous vote of thanks was passed to Mr Montgomery.
