Accommodation licenses were granted aa follows : John Jervis, Fox-hill, £20; R. M. Smith, Forest Inn, £20 ; J. F. Plunk, Wakefield Arm?, £2O ; W. Boddington, Bellgrove Inn, £15 ; and to the following up-country accommodation houses, *l fees varying from £1 to £10, according to the amount of work clone in providing ferries, bridges, and repairing district roads, viz.:—Geo. Bigg?, jun., Motueka Valley ; Jas. Chandler, Wangapeka ; W. F. Fogden, Upper Motueka Valley; H. Hudson, Roundell; A. Hodgkinson, Motupiko ; W. Louden, Motupiko ; W. H. Phillips, jun., Tadmor; A. Wiesenhavern, Top douse. A general license was granted to Thos. Martin for the Spring Grove Hotel. Wholesale licenses were granted to P. 8.. VVattj, W. White, W. Painton, and E. Hooper. Licenses for the sale of liquors not to be drunk on the premises were applied for by W. Painton and E. Hooper, and opposed by the Police, on the ground, especially as regarded Painton, that the conditions of the license had been constantly infringed, and the amount of drunkenness on and about his premises was a public scandal.
