The Phoebe. —Owing to the inclemency of the weather the departure of this steamer has been postponed till 10 o'clock this morning, when she will leave for her usual trip to New Plymouth amd Manukau. The s.s. Alhambra, from Melbourne, is expected to arrive here this morning, and will leave for South by to-night'a tide. The s.s. Tabanaki left Onehunga yesterday, and is due here to-night. She leaves for Picton and South to-morrow morning. The s.s. Mttbbay left for Weßt Coast ports on Sunday morning.The p.s. Wallace, from Westport, Q-rey, and j Hokitika, arrived on Saturday. She reports very j . bad weather throughout the trip, with heavy rains. Her departure is fixed for to-morrow at noon, for the. usual round. ' The b.b. Kennedy left G-reymouth on Sunday last, and arrived here yesterday evening at fit c o'clock. She brings a oarge of Grey coal. She will not return to the Coast for a little while, as she is to reoeive her periodical overhaul, and for this purpose will be placed on the cradle opposile the Anchor Foundry, when her engines will be thoroughly looked after, and in other respects this old favorite will be' well overhauled before resuming the summer trade. The p.s. Lyttelton, from Blenheim, .brought nearly 300 sheep, besides other cargo. Her departure for the same port is fixed for to-day at noon. The p.?. Charles Edward has just about completed her overhaul, und is advertised to resume her place in the West Coast trade about Saturday next, 30fch instant. On Friday last, she went a trip.to tty her eugines, when everything was found to work smoothly, the measured mile being donein 5£ minutes. The s.s. Phcebe, H. Worsp, commander, arrived in harbor at 9 p.m. on Sunday, from Southern Ports. She left Port Chalmers at 1 30 a.m. on the 20th, and arrived at Oamaru at 630 a.m.; left at 220 p.m., and arrived at Lyttelton at 5 30 a.m. on the 21st; lefc at 5-30 p.m. Bame day, arriving at Wellington at 9 a.m. on the 22nd ; lefc at 115 p.m. on the 23rd, and arrived at Picton at 540 p.m., making the smartest passage on record ; lefc at 810 a.m. 6a the 24th, visited the wreck of the Rangitoto, and arrived here as above. We thank the purser (Mr. Monk) for supplying late Southern files. The p.s. Patbbson arrived here from Northern Ports on Saturday morning, and left for South the same evening. The s.s. Napike arrived from Wellington on Saturday morning. She is now being overhauled on the cradle, and will leave at 10 o'clock, for Wellington. The p.s. Lttna, from Nelson, via Cape Farewell, arrived at Onehunga yesterday afternoon. The ship William Davib cleared at the Customs, on'Auguat 15th, with 12 passengers and a cargo consisting of 967 bales' wool, 1744 bales flax, 539 casks tallow, 486 cases meat, 116 bales leather, 81 bundles skins, 87 bales and 706 hides, ani about. 100 pkgs sundries, the whole being valued at £33,241. English and Fobeign Ships, fob Otago.— , According to the Otago Daily Times, the following vessels are due : at Port Chalmers:— Dallam Tower, 1499 tous register, frem London, 104 days out; Allahabad, 83 days from London; Skimmer of the Seas, 102 days from New York. The Contarina Fleming and Luceta are now about 104 days from London. The Peter Denny is now 70 days out from Glasgow, and the Hydaspes 62 days from London. There is \i vessel on the way from China,, and one from Mauritius; the latter may be looked for in about a fortnight. . . ■ :
