Her Majesty congratulates the country on the success of Sir Bar tie Frere's mission for the abolition of tbe slave trade at Zanzibar. A commercial treaty has been conoluded ■with France, and the treaties for the extradition of criminals hare been arranged with Italy, Denmark, Sweden, and Brazil. Negotiations on the same subject are going on with other States. Her Majesty thanks the Commons for their liberality in enabling the Government to promptly meet the Geneva award. The revenue is fully answering the expectations of the Chancellor of the Exohequer, although trade is eiack. The general condition of the people continues to exhibit evidence of improvement. The Bishop of Winchester has been killed by a fall from his horse. The Bishop of Ely euooeeds him. Seventy Danish immigrants for New Zealand are now in the Hospital ship offGravesend. Four cases of cholera have occurred amongst them, and two deaths. Dr. Featherston, the Agent-General of New Zealand, is attending them, and they are kept strictly isolated. Other resignations are expected. Dr. Woodforde, the Vicar of Leeds, has been nominated to~the Bishopric of Ely. Dr. Kineally, in defending the Tichborne claimant, described Sir Roger as of depressed habits and imbecile mind, which explained the absurdity of . many of the claimant's statements, while his conduct throughout was inconsistent with his being an impostor. The Pope has received a visit from a hundred Trench deputies. Ho assured them that the Virgin would re-establish the kingdom in France.' Prince Arthur's betrothal is contradicted. Wool has shown a slight decline from the highest rates during the past week, owing to a relaxation of foreign competition. Balme and Co. report that combing sorts are 2d to 3d above the price paid at the close of last aeries, and clothing Id to I\ d, scoured clothing barely id better, and lambs a shade dearer; crossbreds are unchanged; 50,000 bales remain unsold. The sales close on the 16th instant. Grenada and Cadiz surrendered to the Government troops.' The insurrection has been overcome throughout Andulasia. ' The members of Left are conspiring to agitate for a dissolution of the Assembly. The French harvest is estimated to be deficient to the extent of twelve to fifteen millions of hectolitres. The Count de Paris and the Count de Chambord have had a meeting afc Vienna. Cholera has appeared at Berlin. Telegrams from the Cape Coast, state that the British reinforcements have arrived, but sickness and heavy rain prevent operations against the Ashantees. Cholera is spreading in Tennessee. August 8. A fusion of the Orleani9ts and Legitumists has been accomplished. Victor Hugo is dying. The Carli&ts have just defeated th« Republicans, and captured a Republican General and 600 men. There is dissension in the English Cabinet. August 2. A reconstruction of the Ministry will take place consequent upon the retirement of the Earl of Ripon and Mr. Childers's-retirement. Mr. Bruce retires • upon receiving a Peerage. Mr. Bright replaces Mr. Childers, and Mr. Lowe succeeds Mr. Bruoe. Mr. Gladstonebolds the Premiership and the Chancellorship of the Exchequer. Mr. Ayreton has resigned, and will be succeeded by Mr. Adam. < Dr. Kineally is calling for tho sailors of the American ship Osprey, which picked up Roger Tichborne and landed with the rescued crew of the Bella.
