Mr. Bbidshaw moved the second reading of the Mining on Private Property Bill. M>. Collins opposed it, and moved that it should be read that - day six months. Mr. O'Cokob supported it. The question that" the Bill be now read," was negatived by 37 to 19. Mr. T. L. Shwhmd then spoke in favor of the Bill being passed, and hoped some member would move that it should be read that day week.' Mr. O'Conob moved the adjournment of the debate on the Bill until Wednesday, to give the Government time to re-coisider the Bill. The debate was adjourned till that day. Mr. Vogbl moved that the House sit on Monday evenings for the remainder of the session. Agreed to. The Canterbury Water Supply Bill passed through Committee, amended to apply to the whole Colony,, to be brought into force by proclamation by the Superintendent. The Deeds Begistration Act Amended Bill was read a seojnd time; On the Licensing Bill being committed, Mr. G. B. Pabkeb moved* that the .Speaker do leave the chair, which, after a strong discussion, was negatived by 28 to 13; Several clauses were passed and progress was reported.
