Buxton & Co. The Kennedy, from West Coast ports, arrived here yesterday. She leares on Monday next for her usual round. The Mukbay leaves Hokitika to-day, for Grey mouth, and should be due here about Sunday. The ketch Ooban Bird, from West Wanganui to North Wanganui, with a cargo of coals, arrired in harbor yesterday, hating been off the latter port several days without being able to enter. ■ She will leave again immediately for her destination. The Walu.cs left yesterday for West Coast ports. She took a number of passengers and a full cargo. ' Thb Lyttblton arrived here yesterday morning, having made, rather a long round of it. She. left here for Wanganui on Saturday, the 2nd instant, for Wanganui, arriving there the following day; left again for. Blenheim on Tuesday; and after being a few hours out, encountered a most violent gale from the S.E., which obliged her to run for Port Hardy, where she lay till Thursday; got under weigh for Blenheim, arriving there, on Friday night, but in consequence of the floods did not leave till Thursday last. . ' ■ The p.B. Fatebson arrived here on Wednesday evening last from Southern Ports, and left yesterday afternoon for Taranaki and Manukau. Thk s.s. Tabanaki will arrive here on Sunday from South, and leaves at 4 p.m. on Monday for Northern Port*. " The s.B. Phcebb arrived here at 6*30 a.m yesterday. She left Onehunga wharf at 1T45 aim/ on the 11th, ' with' a strong S.W. gale, and anchored inside the Headß; crossed the bar at 11*30 a.m on the 12th, and arrived off Taranaki at 7 40 a.m on the 13th; left at 10 45 a.m same day, had heavy S.E gale and high tea in crossing the Straits, and arrived here as above. She left for South at 1 p.m yesterday.. ' Thi ship Fontenaye sailed for Auckland on May I 20th,; the ship Berar, for the same port, with 245 Government immigrants, on May 24th ; and the City of Auckland on June 4th, with 32 passengers. | The following vessels are now on there way to i Wellington :—The Lennox Castle, sailed May 7th; I the Electra, sailed May 21st; and the Douglas, sailed i June 7th, allfrom London. - i The number of wrecks reported in London for the present year up to date of June 9th, amounted to 1080. Shipping Case.—The Otago Daily Times of August 7th, states:— '■ Yesterday his Honor Mr. Justice Chapman delivered a judgment very important to the mercantile community. The matter came before his Houor on appeal from the Resident Magistrate's Court, in the-action of Hughes and Harvey v. Captain Stevens, of the E. P. Bouverie. The action was for £88 135., the loss sustained hy plaintiffs through damage by salt to fifty-three bundles of sheet iron. The Magistrate gave judgment for the plaintiffs, and the defendant appealed to the Supreme Court. - The appeal resulted in favor of the plaintiffs with costs." ■ ■ '
