THE WEST COAST RAILWAY.
Respecting the "West Coast Bail way,, Hr. Luckie, M.H.E., last night seat us the following: —
A deputation, consisting of Messrs. Curtis, EI wards, Shephard, Luckie, Parker, Collins, Richmond. Harri- - son, and' Sharp, had an interview wilh Mr. Vogel re the railway. Reference was m»do to Mr. Caictitt's report. The Premier asked Mr. Curtis to supply a memorandum ,on taut report, «nd the Government would give'the subject further connderation. He said a misapprehension prevailed as to the Government's intention. There was no intention to r fuse to con- • struct the line ; so far from that ho hefd that the line must ultimately be made, and it was only a question *■ of time. He desired to devote tlii3 year to a moM thorough examination. of the. country, so as to determine the best route for working mineral*. Ha requires a more'complete survey, but the line was considered a necessity, and one of their ultimate lines, which they would endeavor to bring up next year.
