WELLiNGTOir, February 4. Chiarini's circus performed last night. Over 3,000 persons were present. The Independent, in speaking of the coal miners' strike, says that New Zealand has made itself dependent on New South Wales for an article which is going begging at our own doors. Had the Gtayerninent been actuated by the same spirit as the Governments of Australia, New Zealand might by this time have been entirely independent of any foreign supply.
