THE ODDFELLOWS. The Nelson district branch of this Society held its annual meeting on Tuesday week, when the following officers were elected for tho ensuing year :— P.P.C.S. H. Edwards, as Prov. G.M. ; P.G.Robert Smith, as Prov. D.G.M.; and Prov. C.S. 0. Brighten, as Prov. C.S. The number of members belonging to the Lodges of the district are shown as follows :— Nelson Lodge 159 Travellers' Rest ... 62 Howard 128 Mansion of Peace 19 General Cameron 27 Total 395 being an increase of 40 members during the year. The receipts <or the year from all sources amounted to £1,223 11b. 6d.; and expenditure to £988 18s, Bd. The total funds held by the above lodges amount to £4,654165. lOd.; the Wido« and Orphans' Fund, to £644 12s. 9d. ; district funds,. £88 11s. 5d.; buildings £900 ; making a total of £6,288 Is. The Oddfellows have been established in tho Nelson district, we believe, for 30 years. THE FOBESTERS. This Society has been in existence here about ten years.
