PUBLIC WORKS ACT, 1870.
By a Parliamentary return received from Wellington yesterday, we learn, that 183 officers have been appointed under the Immigration and Public Works Act, 1870. The following table shows the range of their Balaries :—
Many of the officers have extra allowances beyond their salaries lor forage and travelling expenses.
