THE COLONIST.
NELSON, FRIDAY, JANUARY 31, 1873,
THE NELSOIf AND FOX HILL RAILWAY
We have much pleasure in calling the attention to the fact that the tenders for the construction of the first thirteen miles of the above line, entitled the " Waitnea Contract," are advertised for in this issue.
It will not be uninteresting to watch how those who a short time since were ready to aver their disbelief in the work being commenced by the Government within a reasonable time—who have only advocated it perforce, and because they wished to be reckoned with the majority—will now trim their sails to the popular breeze, affect enthusiasm, and attempt to make capital out of a thing in which they have not hitherto held any belief. Previous dubiety and antagonism will take the shape of self complacency. The cynical, All! when ? will be changed into the jubilant " I told you so" and no doubt the " sweet voices" will be sufficiently reminded "of the strenuous efforts which Mr. Blank and Mr. Star were ever desirous of making in a case which they had all along so stoutly advocated, so thoroughly believed in," &c., &c. Nous verrons.
