AN "INACCURACY ON A MATTER OF FACT."
To the Editor of the Colonist. Sin, —When I see your contemporaries so ready to snap at a man directly his back is turned, I am reminded of some lines of Swift's, which run as follows :— So, naturalists observe, a flea Has smaller flea 3 that on him prey, And these have smaller still to bite 'em; And so proceed ad infinitum. One flea says the apathy of the people excused the Superintendent for being apathetic also, and that it is dishonest to tell him of it! The other flea calls it a "foolish attack," and says Mr. Curtis's opponents must be " totally lost to all sense of honesty and fairness." Mr. Luckie, however, appears to have committed an error; "an error on a matter of fact," as thd present Superintendent once accused a late Superintendent of doing. None knows better than Mr. Luckie the necessity of clearing up a misstattment, and this he will doubtless perform in due courae. Yours, &c, PULEX.
