Such being the case, your interests and mine are identical, and my object in seeking to represent you is to have a voice in the regulation of those matters which may conduce to our common benefit, especially as regards the keeping down of taxation and Customs duties, as well as of expenditure in all Government departments and undertakings, at the -same time, however, doing everything in my power to further the substantial progress of the Colony, together with the practical development of its industrial resources. Having no desire or intention to look for place, I shall have nothing to" interfere with the independent action which, in the event of my election, I propose to take on all political matters affecting either our own particular locality or the Colony at large. I shall take an early opportunity of meeting you all in person, and explaining my views, and anßwermg any questions you may choose to put to me onthe political subjects which may effect us either locally or generally. I remain, Gentlemen, Your mo9t obedient servant, RALPH RICHARDSON. Nelson November 15,1870. 1513 ry.O J. E. A. SELLING, ESQ., M.P.O. Hammond, Henry Kriiger, J. Roberts, Frederick Schroder. To J. W. Baenicoat, Esquire, and the other Gentlemen who signed the above requisition. /HENTLEMEJN,—I have much pleasure V_X in acknowledging the receipt of the above requisition, and in answer have- no hesitation in stating that I consider myself compelled to comply with your request. Some years ago, I filled the honorable position of representing you in the New Zealand Parliament. Many political changes have since taken place, and, considering that my political conduct has met with your approval during the last fifteen years, I confidently place myself at your disposal.
It is an additional guarantee of your confidence in me, that you have thus early, before you knew who would come forward to represent you in our Parliament, called upon me to do so ; but lam particularly gratified to Bee that all of you who have signed the requisition are Electors residing in my neighborhood, and, consequently, well know my political acts and deeds, in fact, must know me best. Suburban North is now one District with Waimea East, and as it would be very inconvenient for many of the Electors in that District to attend at the day of Nomination, in order to hear my political opinions on the very important questions at issue, I intend inviting them to meet me on an early day, to give them all the information necessary for every Elector to know before recording his vote. Thanking you, Gentlemen, for the honor you have done me, I am your Fellow Elector, 1455 FEDOR SELLING. M U. S I C . ME. EDMUND KNYVETT, Pbokebsob OF MtrsiO, having had many years of experience in tuition in London, begs to announce that he has commenced practice in Nelson, and is prepared to receive PUPILS for instruction in SINGING, the PIANOFORTE, ORGAN, and HARMONIUM.
