THE MAIL SERVICE.
To the Editor of The Colonist. Sir, —I see that the Mail of this evening, in art. most abortive and extraordinary nofcioe <m the postal service, says that we are " note reduced .to one .mail service, that via Suez.;'' and then'five or six-line* further on, it gives this further piece of intelligence, " afc the present moment Now Zealand is without any foreign or postal service at all." Sir, this is really worse fchau ever; worse than fche arifci-Whitmoro leader, which preceded the telegram of the Ngatipa victory. The Omeo took our mail for England only yesterday! Bufc this is nofc all. The .editor adds ".we cannot too .strongly urge upon the Government the necessity of at once calling for tenders for the performance of fche inter-colonial, service." Why, sir, fche Government, so far back hs the 9th of January, advertised for tenders for t'je conveyance of maiis between this Coldny and Aiistralia, as aiiy man wbo , reads the, Wellington, papers.' can see; Within the Space of a sore of sapient lines these glaring blunders are corrjnitted, and' the people j misled in mutters that a little trouble and common sense reflection could put right in a moment. I am, Sir, Merchant. Nelson, Thursday.
