ENGLISH NEWS, VIA SUEZ.
NEWS TO OCTOBER 30th. (by eegctbio tbiegbaph.) The Queen is at Balmoral. Her Majesty's health is much improved. The Prince and Princess of "Wales visited Glasgow, and contemplate visiting Denmark. The Prince of Wales refuses to join the Freemasons. The Duke of Edinburgh has assumed the command of the Galatea, and sails in November, and returns in 1870. Murphy is creating disturbances in Manchester. He persists in his candidature for the city. Four more accidents have occurred on the Holy head railway. Six months' pay has been awarded to the sailors and soldiers engaged in the Abyssinian war. Jefferson Davis resides in London. Abyssinia is divided into two parts. Go-* veruor Gabazzey was crowned Emperor at Sondar. Mr. Gladstone has suffered from English cholera but has recovered. The expected Liberal majority in the new Parliament is 186. Most of the Liberal candidates favour the Ballot. There are rumours of great reductions in the army. The Guildhall, London, narrowly escaped destruction by fire. The Chinese Embassy has arrived. The Panama Company held a meeting on the Bth of October, to consider the advisability of winding-np the Company. The Chairman stated the remittances amounted to £20,000 less for the last four months than during the same period last year. The passenger traffic on local lines was less profitable, and acceptances had been returned dishonoured. After the discussion it was agreed to appoint a committee to consider the position of the Company and consult creditors. A subsequent meeting was held, when it was resolved that the Company should continue under a new Directory. Money continues plentiful. Dr. Livingstone is announced to be within nine weeks' march of Zanzibar. A Quakeress has been fined in Manchester for pressing her claim to vote. Mr. Anthony Trollope opposes the election of Lord Stanley. The Emperor of the IVench visited the Camp at Chalons and made a pacific speech. Eighty thousand soldiers obtained their furlough. Public anxiety respecting war is much lessened. The King of Prussia, whilst visiting Hamburg, said, " What you want we all want —peace." He entertained confident hopes that peace would not be disturbed. Bismarck has recovered his health, and will soon resume his duties. London-, Oct. 30. . Money supplied exceeds the demand. Great excitement at Hongkong, owing to a Chinese gunboat having threatened to fire into a British steamboat not showing her flag. The affair has been represented to the British Government. The barque Eichard, bound for Wellington, has been ran down. All hands saved, A banquet has been given to Lord Stanley and Mr. Keverdy Johriston, (the new American Minister,) at Liverpool. Both stated that several questions between America and England have been satisfactorily adjusted, and they hoped the Alabama claims would soon be settled. The revolution in Spain is complete. It ia expected tho throne will be offered to the King of Portugal Cuba (Spanish "West India Island,) recognises the revolution as complete, and perfect civil and religious liberty has been proclaimed. General Grant's election as President of America is looked upon as a certainty. A very painful feeing has been evinced in England with respect to the Maori outbreaks.
