COMMERCIAL INTELLIGENCE.

"Tiie Colonist" Office, 4th December. There is no change to nofco in prices, nor any alteration in trade which is partially influenced by the general depression caused by the Maori war. Stocks of all kinds are now fully supplied by the arrival of tlio John Bunyan, which reached this port on Ist instant, after a passage of 102 days. A cargo of 260 tons Mauritius sugar arrived here on November 7, in excellent condition in the Emma. We ought to mention amidst the general gloom caused by the Maori war, that a goldfield which promises to be fruitful, has been discovered some fifty miles from Collingwood. Some rich samples of coarse shotty gold of a fine quality have been obtained ; and upwards of 200 ounces have already been brought to Nelson, which will be the entrepot of the district, should a large population be gathered together. It is difficult to obtain particulars, but these will be shortly learned, for a number of pabple have gone to the ground j and some are already successfully working it.
