FATAL ACCIDENT NEAR WESTPORT.

men residing in the hut last night, but two are still missing. • Their names are Thomas Kilbum and William Erereste, and they are supposed to be buried under the debris from the hill. The bodies were found abDUt three yards apart, and one was frightfully mangled. John Fleet, another1 of, the parry, was dangerously injured, and is not expected to livd. The bodies of Kilbum and Evereste were conveyed to the Nelson Hotel. At the inquest, held on November 27th, the following verdict was given by the jury : —"' That the said Thomua Kilburn and William Evereste were, on Tuesday, November 26, 1867, at the Cilfdor.iiin Terrace, near,Westport, in the saul Colony, casually and by misfortune killed by an no idental fail of e-irih, aitrilmtubld solely to natural ctusv'S mid i.ot. to any negligence or cuivlessness of themselves or otheis." The funeral of the two unfortumite men who met with their untimely deith at. tlie Caledonian Lend tho other day, took pl*u'e on November 28th. Tliere was between 400 and 500 miners and others present, the mates of the deceased being next, to tlie corpse. The Rev. Mr. Harvey and Dr. Giles, R.M., hea led the procession, and the former performed the usuul burial service.
