The Financial Reform League.—There are now about 400 members of the League in fche City, and these are daily increasing. Tickets of membership may be bad afc the Examine* and Colonist offices.

Nelson Fiee Brigade.—List night, the annual meeting of the Brigade was held in tlie Trafalgar Hotel, Captain Knight in the chair. rlhe meeting proceeded to the election of. officers, when Captain Knight was unanimously re-elected. Lieutenant Murfin was also re-elected by a large majority. Mr. Cooksey was re-elected Foreman of the Hook and Ladder Company; Mr. M. Sinclair was elected Foreman of No. 1 Hose Company ; and Mr. 11. Wimsett Foreman of No. 2 Hose Company. Mr. Hunter Brown was elected Foreman ofthe Fire Company. Mi*. Merrington was re-elected Treasurer of the Brigade, and Mr. Wigzell was unanimously re-elected Secretary. The balance sheet, which showed a balance in favor of the Brigade of £17 odd (to meet three time 3 the amount of liabilities still due), was adopted. It was then proposed by Lieutenant Murfin, and seconded by Mr. Acton Adams, that the Brigade vote £73 from its funds to enable tlie Government to complete the engine house, the lowest tender for the erection of the same being that amount in excess of the sum voted by the Provincial Council. The motion on being put to the meeting was lost. It was then proposed, seconded, and agreed to, that the Provincial Government be requested to defer accepting tenders for erecting the engine house until after the next meeting of the Brigade. Ifc was resolved that tickets be obtained for fixing to the residence of each member of the Brigade ; and also, that a number of hour tickets bo got to deliver to men employed in working during fire 3. It was also unanimously agreed that a reward of £2 be offered for the first harnessed horse arriving at the engine house, on the occasion of a fire during night; and £1 during day; the second horse to receive half these' sums. Votes of thanks were passed to Mr. Greenfield and Mr. Sharp for auditing the accounts. We would remind our readers thafc the anniversary dinner ofthe Brigade takes place-next Thursday night.

It is proposed to erect the ijland of Kawau, the property of Governor Grey, into a separate provinco, which will be ruled over by his Excellency when, he retires from the Governorship.
