NOTICE. rPHE ATTENTION of SHEEPJL OWNERS in the PROVINCE of NELSON, is DIRECTED to the following SECTIONS of the "NELSON SCAB ACT, 1865":— 7. Every owner of sheep shall, in the month of January in each year, make a return to the Chief Inspector of the number of sheep in hisjcharge, in the said Province, on the First of January in such year. And every owner shall, in the month of February in i each year, pay or cause to be paid to the Treasurer of the Province the sum of One half-penny per head for every sheep in his charge upon the First day of Januaiy in such year, and in default thereof the same may be sued for in the name of any Inspector of Sheep, and recovered in a summary manner before any two Justices of the Peace, and the proof of the number of such sheep in his charge shall rest with the defendant. 27. Any person who shall neglect or refuse to make any return, or to give any evidence lawfully required under this Act, or shall obstruct the Inspector in the execution of his duty or in the exercise of his powers, shall be liable to a penalty not exceeding Fifty pounds for every such offence. TELEGRAPH POLES. npHE TELEGRAPH COMMISSIONER JL is prepared to receive TENDERS for the supply and delivery of TELEGRAPH POLES, to be delivered as follows ;— 50 at.Flaxbourne 50 „ Kelriranga 50 „ Waipapa 50 „ Amuri 50 „ Gore Bay 50 „ Saltwater Creek. The poles to be delivered in a secure place above high water mark, to be approved by the Telegraph Engineer. The whole of the poles to be sawn out of the heart ot Totara or Black Pine, to be twenty-five feet long, eight inches square at the base, and six inches square at the top. Nothing but the heart of these timbers will be accepted. Tendei'3 will be received for the whole or any portion of the above supply of poles, and must state the time within which they must be delivered. Tenders addressed "The Telegraph Engineer, Wellington," and endorsed " Tenders for Telegraph Poles in the Middle Island," to be sent in not later than 12 noon on the 6th March.
