UNEASINESS IN WELLINGTON RESPECTING-
STRANGE HATJ-HAXJ MAORIS
"Wellington, October 18, 5.15 p.m. Some amount of uneasiness is felt in the j "Wairarapa district respecting an armed body of Hau-haus, strangers to the province, who are at present visiting that district, where they have been staying for the past three weeks. Colonel Haultain goes up to the "Wairarapa to-morrow, to ascertain what they are doing, and what are their objects. The Government steamer St. Xilda is coaling for Napier, whence she will convey the Hau-hau prisoners taken in Hawke's Bay to the Chatham Islands. A guard of twenty men is to be stationed at the Chatham Islands.
