Tmsatery ofthe discovery of mutilated bodies at Ofea, in Anckland Province, turns out to be a Maori report void of foundation. The temperance movement is gaining ground among the troops at Patea River, on the West Coast of the North Island. Mr. Brooib has been appointed Provincial Secretary of the Province of Otago, and hue succeeded in obtaining the requisite number of colleagues to enable him to carry on the business of the Council under the Superintendent of the Province.
