NON-ELECTORS AT THE NOMINATION.
To the Editor of The Colonist.
Sib,—l think it is only fair to inform you and the public that at the Nomination of Friday last, when the show of hands was called for on behalf of Mr. Barnicoat, a large body of diggers who were at the lower end of the hall, near the door, and who, like myself, were not electors, held up their hands in favor of that gentleman. This they did at the instigation of an elector, who held up his hand and called out to them and others to do the same. There were two or three tiers of those who thus held up their hands, and I suppose they numbered about twenty men. This would very considerably have altered the numbers, and it is but just that the electors should know the fact.
I enclose my card, and I am, &c. A STRANGER IN NELSON. P.S. If it is required I can give the name of the elector who gave the invitation to the diggers.
