"jVTOTICE is hereby given, that the follow_L i ing BY-LAW, having been assented to by the Government, and duly published, is NOW IN FORCE within the City of Nelson. By-Law No 6 Whereas, by the " Nelson Improvement Amendment Act," Session V., No. 2, power is given to the Board of Works to make such Rules, By-Laws, and Regulations as may be necessary and expedient: Be it, therefore, ordered and directed by the said Board, with the sanction of his Honor the Superintendent and Ins Executive Council, as follows, viz. :— Any person shall be liable to a penalty of not more than forty shillings, who shall commit any of the following offences within the City of Nelson ; that is to say .— 1. Every person who shall lead, ride, or drive any horsed ass, mule, or cattle over or acrossany public bridge intended for foot passengers only. 2. Every person who shall lead, ride, or drive any horse, ass, mule, or cattle upon any public footpath, except for the purpose of crossing such footpath, when the same is formed and distinguished from the roadway. 3. Every person who shall unpack any goods on the footpath, so as to allow shavings or other refuse to go into the water table or gutter. 4. Every person who shall land cattle or horses from any ship or boat on to the sea beach, alongside the Haven-road, so as to cause damage to the sea wall. By order of the Board, J. L.
