COMMITTAL OF THE PRINCIPALS, SECONDS, AND OTHERS FOR TRIAL.
Thomas King, John Carmel Heenan, Thomas Sayers, James Jlace, John Calviu Noon, alias Jerry Noon, John Tyler, alias Bos Tyler, Robert Travels, John llacdonald, WillUm Richardson, and William Preston were brought before a bench of Sussex magistrates, At Mark's Cross, Wadhurst, on December 22, charged with a breach of the peaco in the recent fight. Heenan appeared somewhat weak, the only personal disfigurement being the bloodshot aspect of his left eye. King looked uncommonly well, and behaved, as did all the defendants, with great propriety. They offered to plead guilty if the bench would accept sureties for tlieir good This was declined, however, and all but Richardson und Preston were, alter evidence had been taken, bound over to appeur at the quarter sessions for trial.
A summons had been left for Edward Smith at his " place of business" (the office of BeWs Life in London). He, however, did not put iv an appearance.
