GENERAL CAMERON'S DISPATCH. (BY MILITARY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.)

beven hundred natives arrived at Raogiawa from Paterangi at daylight this morning. About 12 o'clock tliey commenced entrenching themselves in a strong position (apparently the site of an old pah), about two miles on the road from this place. I moved out with the greater part of the force against them, at 130, and attacked their position, which was carried in the most gallant style by th,e 50th, under Colonel Weare. The enemy broke and fled towards Maungatautnre. While marching to attack them X received a despatch from Colonel Waddy, anuou.ncing the evacuation of the Paterangi pa,h, whioh he at once occupied. Pikopiko and Rangeata have also been abandoned. Rangiawhia is now occupied by us. I have ordered tho greater part of Colonel Waddy's force to this place, where they will-arrive to-night, 22ud Feb. Commodore Sir W. Wiseman was present with me diiring the attack.
