NOTICE OF MAILS.
Fob Wakapuaka.—To-morrow, at 2 p.m. Fob Stokk, Eichmond, Waimea West, Spbing G-bove, and Wakefield .—To-day. Fob Appi/Eby, Uppeb Moutebe, Loweb Motttebe. Motueka, and Riwaka.—On Thursday. Voting in the Council.—A Cobbection.— ln a note under the report of last Thursday's Council in reference to the mistaken vote of Mr. Goodman on the Loan Sill we stated that on a former occasion when a mistake of a similar kind was committed, " the Speaker overruled the standing orders, and allowed the error to he rectified" hut that this was not done in Mr. Goodman's case. By a slip of the pen ln the haste of tenting, toe wrote the word " Speaker" %istead of "chairman." Iv both cases the Council was in Committee, so that in each the decision was by the Chairman, — a different member of Coun oil in each case, — and not by the Speaker, who was in the position of an ordinary member of committee. We make this correction all the more readily, because unjustly to seem to imply partiality to the public conduct of .any one, particularly the Speaker, is an error we \ most strongly desire to avoid.
