ENGLAND. THE QUEEN'S SPEECH.
Parliament closed on 27th July. The .Royal Message regrets the condition of Poland, and trusts that the stipulations of the treaty with Vienna will be fulfilled, and thus terminate the conflict.
" The American war unfortunately still continues, but we see no reason to depart from bur determination to remain neutral."
It mentions negotiations which are pending for the cession of the lonian Isles to Greece, also the demands made by the British Government on Japan. Would gladly see our relations with the Brazils re-established.
It alludes to the renewal of the disturbances in New Zealand, and trusts that wise, conciliatory measures, supported by adequate means for repression, will be adopted. It enumerates the principal measures passed during the session which received the Eoyal assent, including an act for executing an additional treaty with the United States for the more effectual suppression of the slave trade.
In conclusion, it mentions the satisfactory state of the finances of the country, the improvement in the condition of India, and the general prosperity of the whole empire.
London, 31st July. The Funds improved to-day, in consequence of the large arrivals of specie and the expectation that peace in Europe will be maintained. Consols, 93.
The Board of Trade returns are extremely satisfactory.
