GOVERNMENT NOTICE. ALTERATION OF ROADS. Survey Office, June 18,1863. THE undersigned hereby give notice, that they intend to APPLY to two or more Justices of the Peace, at a silting to be held on TUESDAY, the 18th day of August, 1863, at the Court House, Nelson, for an order for STOPPING UP, DIVERTING, and MAKING the undermentioned ROADS; and further, that they will cause survey plans of the several roade proposed to be stopped up, substituted, and made, together with books of reference and estimates, to be deposited on or before the 30th day of Juue, 1863, with the Clerk to the Magistrates, Nelson, and with Mr George Taylor, Constable for the district of Takaka. 1. To stop up parts of a road in the Takaka district, passing in a straight line through section No. 163; commencing" a't^tb* line of division between that se^ion and seotien* No. ■-■■ 160 and 161, and terminal ing jat the line of road which divides it from;rfoi-26. s'- ■ And to substitute in the place thereof a certain other road in the said districts, 75 links I in width; commencing and terminating at or about the same points as above mentioned, but pursuing ■ a different course between these points, as delineated on the accompanying i plan, viz., about 35 chains running in a southwesterly direction, thence about 6 chains in a - south-easterly direction; and from thence about 3 chains in a south-west direction, to the line of road dividing sections Nds. 163 and 26. 2. To make a new road, 75 links in width, commencing at the termination of the last named road, on the road line dividing sections . Nos. * 163 and 26, passing through No. 26, in a south-westerly direction about 38 chains, thence through. No. 27 section in the same direction for about 27 chains, thence in a > southerly direction for about 14 chains, crossing the division line between sections Nos. 27 and 28, thence in a south-westerly direction for about 7 chains, ■ and from thence curving round gradually to an east-south-east direction, and crossing the division line between sections Nos. 28 add 107, through the last named section in an east-south-east direction for about 10 chains, then in a southerly direction for about 27 chains, till it meets the old line of road between sections Nos. 107 and 109, at a point about 12 chains from the junction of sections Nos. 107 and 113. 3. To stop up a road, forming the western boundary of section No. 116, the length thereof being about 57 chains. And to substitute in the place thereof a certain other road, 100 links in width, commencing at the north-west corner of section [ No. 116 (where it will join an old road line, lying between sections Nos. 109 and 110), and proceeding through No. 116 section, along the division line between it and section No. 115, for about .11 chains; thence in a general south-south-east direction through section No. 116, to the boundary line between it and j. vi sectionsNos. 18and 46, a -distance* at" about 47' chains." Motupipi up the west side of the Takaka Valley, and proceeding between sections Nos. 172 and 201, in a south-east direction about 4 chains; thence between sections No. 172 on one side, and 202 and 182 on the other side, to where it meets the Takaka River on the west side, about 35 chains; thence across the Takaka River to section No. 17a on^the east Bide, and through that section in a northeasterly direction for a distance of about 20 chains, viz., to a point about 6 chains from the division line between sections Nos. 177 and 178. And to substitute for the same a certain other road, 75 links in width, commencing in section No. 202, at an angle of the present main road, and proceeding about 1 chain in a northerly direction; thence in a east-north-east direction for about 25 chains, crossing the old line of toad and through section No. 172 to the banks of the Takaka River, and crossing it to section No. 177, thence through section No. 177 in a curved line and a general south-east direction, to a point on the division line between sections Nos. 177 and 178, about six chains from the river, and thence through section No. 178 in a curved line in a general south-east direction to a point on the old road line about six chains from where it leaves the division line between sections Nos. 177 and 178.
