ADJOURNED LICENSING MEETING.

Newoomk, Esq*.] The following licenses were granted : —■ Joseph Edwards, Prince Albert Hotel, 10 o'clock license, with a caution that if any more complaints weie made against the house, the license would be immediately withdrawn. Robert Carter, Rising Sun, Waimea Road, 10 o'clock license. William Auty, Motueka Hotel, 10 o'clock license,

James Sanders, Bush Tavern, Grove-street, 10 o'clock license. John Jervis, Commercial Hotel, corner of Trafalgar and Hardy-streets, 12 o'clock license. Henry Williams, Victoria Hotel, Haven Road, 10 o'clock license. An application for a license by John Armstrong, of the Prince Alfred Hotel, Bridge-street, was refused on the ground that it was not required. Monday, April 21. [Before J. Povntek, Esq., Resident Magistrate.] Henry Harris and Alexander Chambers were charged with desertion from H.M.S.S. Cordelia. Remanded till to-day. Abraham Harris was charged with stealing meat from Samuel Shute, butcher. As the plaintiff had sent in a bill for the amount of the meat, the case was dismissed, it being a civil and not a criminal charge.
