As Mr. Greenwood was riding on horseback here on Saturday last, he met Mr. Tarrant on the entire horse " Leading Article," and as they passed each othe Leading Article (in true envious style) kicked out at the horse Mr. Greenwood was riding, and struck the leg of the latter a little above the ancle, inflicting a severe bruise which has laid him up. I am glad to inform you he is getting better.

Riwaka, 23rd October, 1860. I send you a few particulars connected with the Ploughing Match which took place here on Saturday last. The match was held in a field belonging to Mr. Gaskell; the money for the prizes was raised by subscription. The first prize £2; second,'£l 10s.; third, £1. The competitors were young men, under 20 years of age, resident in the district, viz.—Samuel Fowler, Richard Holyoake, Edward Fry, Edward Rowling, Joseph Duncan, James McMahon, and David Drummond. The quantity of land ploughed by each was nearly half an acre. The work was done in very creditable manner. The judges, Messrs. Cook and Drummond, inspected the ground carefully, and awarded the prizes as follows :— First prize .. ~ Edward Rowling Second ditto,. .. David Drummond ,- Third ditto .. .. Edward Fry, We understand it is intended to have an annual match in this the smallest, but not the least spirited, district of the kelson Province^
