Correspondence.
To the Editor of the Colonist. ■'- . - Sib —In the Examiner of the 21st instant, I.see- a short letter signed " C Elliott,' 1 from which it appears that "after yows, Mr. C. Elliott has made inquiry," and is now in a position to inform the public that Mr. Hargreaves is not the wholesale sheep stealer he appeared to be by Mr. Elliott's evidence, as sworn to in the witness box.. •( But, Sir, I should think Mr. Elliott's sense ofwhat is due to himself and others, must convince him that if what he stated in the witness box is not true, a much longer explanation is necessary, and is due to other persons besides Mr. Hargreaves. And, may I suggest, that it is due to Mr.JSlliott himself to explain how he failed to make himselt acquainted with the most important .and easily ascertained facts connected with his case, before he commenced to give evidence against his neighbor; and how a person, who did not know that forty of of his sheep had been sold to one man and twentythree to another, couldswear so positively as to the number of sheep he had lost in eleven months previous to Kerr's apprehension.^ • I am, &c, "One waa wguki nqx uke. xaBB Hanqeb..1 *
