'". ■"/.* ' Tuesday, May 25;' ]■ ■V • '.'; ;;.- 1 ■ ' Mr. Eban, to move, That in tho regulations for the sale, of tho w»Bte lands,of the Grown,■ tobVrtconv-. mended by the Superintendent to the Governor, under the Waste Lands Act,.1854, of theX?eneral Asaembly ; . of New Zealand; the following provision be included,' viz.:—Provided always, that whenever any person shall be desirous of obtaining land for immediate occupation, and shall prove to tho satisfaction of the.Land Board that such person intends to become a botiafide settler on such land, it shall be lawful for the Board to sell to such person a piece of land, not being town land, nor included within the boundaries df any run for which depasturage licence has already been issued, nor exceeding 80 acres, without the same being submitted to auction, at a price to be fixed, to be provided in the. land regulations. But no such privilege shall be exercised more than once by the same person. And that it shall be lawful for any party purchasing land, not exceeding 80 acres, to pay ; for the same in five- regulai* instalments, during five years. Nevertheless, whenever there shall be two br more applications for the same land, on any given, day of sale, it x shall be offered for sale at public auction. > . ..'.■-/■• Thursday, May 27t. Boat Race.—A match for £50, between Mr. DuppaV yacht Flying Fish, and Mr. Ridings' yacht Auckland, took place yesterday. The match was, to sail round Adele Island and return .to the. harbor by half-past, four,'"- Both yachts started at eight o'clock yesterday morning. The Auckland-returned about, half-past 4, but up to 6 o'clock the Flying Fish had not returned. We will give the result of the match in our next. . T ,
