Witli all due respect for his enlightened ideas on that subject, I beg to observe that latitude had nothing whatever to do with it. A chronometer, which a few days previously was rated in Sydney by Mr. Prevost, one of the Sydney raters, was after the accident found to be 3 m. 40 s. sluw, thus placing the ship forty miles a-head of her tmo position, causing me to haul up into Blind Bay (in a dark night bo it understood) thinking I waa clear of all danger.
