By way of San Francisco we have later advices from all parts of Central America. GUATEMALA. . The news from the capital of this Republic is to the 23rd August, and from the port of San Jose de Gutemala to the 27th August. The honorable W. E. Venable, U. S. Resident Minister to, Guatemala, died at the capital on 22nd August, of cholera, which disease he contracted a few days after his arrival, in the country. His remains were interred in the Protestant burial-ground. The funeral service of the Protestant Episcopal Church was read by the English Charge d'Affaires at. the grave. The funeral was attended by all the leading officials at Guatemala, and the diplomatic and consular representatives of the various foreign powers. " TERRIBLE RAVAGES OP THE CHOLERA. The wife of the President of the Republic fell §i victim to the cholera; she died on the' 16th August. The ravages of this dreadful scourge throughout Guatemala have been most fearful. It first made its appearance at the capital on Bth July last, and up to the 23rd August there had been 249.4 cases reported, and 1039 deaths. The smaller towns in the interiorvhaycalso suffered severely from the epidemic; indeed, the mortality seems to have been greater in several localities than in the capital. In the town of Villa Nueva, with a population of less than 4000 some 800 persons have died; and in Amatitlan, with a population of 12,000, it is reported that at least one-twelfth of its inhabitants have died of cholera. The annual fair of Jocotenango, which was to have come off on 15 th August, has been postponed till the 24th October, in consequence of the prevailing epidemic. Provisions of every description were very scarce and high at the city of Guatemala.
