ANATOKI GOLD FIELDS.

The following new code of laws for the management of the above gold-tields"were passed at' a meeting held at the Takaka Inn, 6n the 21stinstant:—

Ist.—Proposed by Mr. Prichard, seconded by Mr. W. Green—"That each Digger shall be entitled to a claim of Thirty square feet."

2nd.—Proposed by Mr. S. Spelling, seconded by Mr. Judd—" That any Digger being absent from his claim more than three days, shall forfeit the same."

3rd.—"Proposedby Mr. Daly, seconded by Mr. Garsick—-" That all Discoverers of Gold in any Creek, River, or Flat, shall be entitled to a double claim."

4th.—Proposed by Mr. Prichard, seconded by Mr. S. Snelling—■" That any party turning the river shall be entitled to a claim of Seventy Square Feet each man."

sth.—Proposed by Mr. Prichard, seconded by Mr. Clark—" That no person shall shepherd any claim but for himself or sick mate, the same to be proved by a Doctor's certificate."

6th. —" Proposed by Mr. Garrick, seconded .by Mr. Williams—" That any party turning the course of any Creek, River, or Spring, for their own use, shall return the same into its original course, so as not to inconvenience the adjoining claim, and that in no case shall the water be dammed back upon the claim of any party without first asking their consent." x 7th. —Proposed by Mr. J. Carter, seconded by Mr. Daly—"That all disputes arising among the Diggers engaged in the Anatoki, shall be settled by .arbitration, and the same to be-adjusted by practical Diggers only, one of whom to be appointed Chairman."

Bth.—Proposed by Mr. Judd—" That the Laws, as they now stand, be the existing Laws, until a new code be proposed at any future meeting convened for that purpose by Diggers only." 9th. —Proposed by Mr. S. Snelling, seconded by Mr. Carter—" That the foregoing Rules be printed, and published in the Nelson Examiner and Colonist.
