OPARAU CONCERT
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE SUCCESS PLAYED TO CAPACITY AUDIENCE The Oparau Women’s Institute Dramatic Club held a successful concert recently in the Oparau Hall before a capacity audience which appreciated the high standard of entertainment. Credit for the success of the concert is due to Mrs. Noonan, who produced the one-act plav. “All On a Summer’s Day,” the able cast, and to Mesdames Wright, the programme organiser who selected artists of outstanding merit, and R. Clark, who was a most capable accompanist. The programme comprised the play, which was well acted by Mesdames Noonan, Wright, K. Clark, Lobb, Richards, and Miss Wills; items by the Institute choir, two amusing mimes by Mesdames Goodwin, Humphrey, K. Clark, B. Davies, and Daly, of the Kawhia Women’s Division, a song in character by Mjss Corine Miller, of Cambridge, pianoforte solos by Miss Barbara Evans, of Cambridge, and Miss Doreen Randall, some magic by Mr. Frederickson, vocal solos by Miss J. Reeve, of Auckland, Mrs. Ferguson, and Mr. J. Richards, and an operatic dance by Miss C. Miller. A pleasant evening was rounded off by the serving of a delectable home cooked supper by Mesdames Gilbert and Randall, together with a band of willing helpers.
