Whatiwhatihoe Bridge

The cost of replacing the present Whatiwhatihoe bridge over the Waipa River on the Pirongia-Ngutunui Road is to be met by- the Main Highways Board and the Kawhia, Waipa, and Otorohanga County Councils. The three councils are to raise their share of the monies over a period of two years, 1951-52 and 1952-53. This was signified in letters received by the Otorohanga County Council last Monday from the Kawhia and Waipa County Councils. The chairman, Mr. J. L. Wallis, said that the bridge was estimated to cost £40,000 and the Otorohanga County Council’s share would be £5OOO.
