AWAITING APPROVAL

HONIKIWI WAR MEMORIAL The Department of Internal Affairs, in a letter which was received by the Otorohanga County Council at its meeting last Monday, stated that it was hoped to give definite advice concerning the Honikiwi War Memorial Hall in the near future. Consequent upon the announcement of the policy for subsidising memorial projects, stated the letter, the Government had established a Cabinet sub-committee to examine all applications held in the Department of Internal Affairs, while approvals previously given would no doubt be confirmed. Cr. Grierson said that the Honikiwi War Memorial Committee hoped to receive approval in the near future. The application was now in order and plans were in the hands of the Government awaiting approval.
