At the commencement of the afternoon rounds, Harding improved his position by winning the first three holes in bogey figures. He lost the fourth with a return of six strokes to Ramsbottom* s 5, and won the fifth with a four, the rest up to the ninth being halved. Both scored good fours at the tenth, but Ramsbottom showed great accuracy over the next three holes, returning 2,5, and 4 at the 11th, 12th and 13th. Harding returned scores of 4,7, and 5 on the same holes, leaving Ramsbottom four up. Harding won the 14th with a 3 against Ramsbottom’s 4. The next two holes were halved, and the match ended at the 16th with Ramsbottom winning by 3 and 2, making him the senior champion for 1950. R. D.
