WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

TE AWAMUTU BRANCH ANNUAL MEETING HELD The annual meeting of the Women’s Institute was held in the Parish Hall on March 10th, 1950. Mrs G. Macken presided over a. good attendance of members The minutes of the previou/ annual meeting were read and confirmed. Mrs Adams, the secretary, gave a report on the year’s activities and Mrs Trask, the treasurer, presented her balance sheet. Mrs Macken thanked both these ladies for their work and co-operation through the year- and also thanked other members of the committee who had worked so hard and all members for attending meetings. Mrs Macken then presented Mrs Trask and Mrs Adams with shoulder sprays. Mrs O’Brien was then called upon to accept a spray and best wishes of all for a happy trip and safe return. The prizes won for the year were then presented as follows: Cup, Mrs Benson; miscellaneous, Mrs Benson; large bloom, Mrs Williams; small bloom, Mrs Williams. The election of officers was as fol-

lows: —President, Mrs G. Macken; vice-presidents, Mesdames A. Watson and M. Williams; secretary, Mrs Trask; treasurer, Mrs Ward; tea hostess, Mrs V. Geater; points steward, Mrs Brindle; sales table, Mrs Menary; press correspondent, Mrs A. Watson; committee, Mesdames Menary, Geater, Pope, Penman and Brindle. A sales table did good business. Afternoon tea served by the outgoing committee brought a very pleasant afternoon to a close.
