CORRESPONDENCE

LACK OF KINDERGARTEN DEPLORED Sir, —I have been a resident of this district for several months, and I still wonder why so little is done for our small children. I have resided, during my married life, in four towns of similar size to this, and in each I was able to let my little one have the pleasure and benefit of kindergarten, or play-centre companionship with little ones of the same age. I found it prepared them for primary school, taught them “give and take,” and gave me valuable hours for other duties. My two youngest yearn for this fun, but here there is nothing, before- school years. Why! Is there no interest taken by anyone’ I would be glad to assist any worthwhile scheme.—l am, etc., Mrs S. B.
