Disposal of Wedding Gifts
The question of w’hich party to separation between husband and w’ife should have the wedding presents was referred to in the Supreme Court at Hamilton on Wednesday, when Mr Justice Finlay remarked that there was a singular dearth of authorities on the subject. Both counsel agreed, and one suggested that a usual course followed on such occasions was for the wife to take the wedding gifts made by her relatives and friends, while the husband took those given by his relatives and friends. Opposing counsel said he had heard of cases where the parties “tossed” for possession, the winner having first choice. Tn is brought the remark from His Honour that counsel might look up authorities on the subject.
