A welcome was extended to the visitors by Mr Phil Quick who said that the club in Te Awamutu had been sponsored by the Hamilton Club and as was obvious had grown into a lusty child. Mr Quick stated that the club had been well represented at the charter meeting of the Putaruru Club; six members had travelled to the opening on the Tuesday of last week. He congratulated tha Matamata Club which had sponsored the Putaruru Club. The Te Awamutu Club, he stated, was to sponsor a club at Otorohanga early in the New Year. He maintained that there was sufficient material in Otorohanga to form a strong club. On December 20, the last meeting of the club this year, there were to be 25 guests, Brownees and Cubs of the Te Awamutu Scout Group, whom he asked members to act as hosts to. President Nicklin of the Hamilton Club, replied to the welcome which had been extended by Mr Quick and concurred that the Te Awamutu Club had grown into a lusty child. Mr Allsop-Smith, speaker for the evening, chose to address members on the effects of the Atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The address, was a very interesting one for which he was thanked on behalf of all those present by Rotarian R. Warner.
