TE AWAMUTU UNION
MEETING OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
The Management Committee of the Te Awamutu Rugby Union met on Monday night. The president, was chairman to the meeting of the following members: Messrs Barton, Calder, Irwin, Cavanagh, Schwartfeger, Vickers, Haycock, Morey, Atkinson. In addition, there were, present the treasurer, the secretary, and the junior selector, Mr V. Rastrick. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and considerable discussion resulted from various matters arising from the minutes. The Mapukau Rovers Rugby Football Club 4th grade team hope to visit Te Awamutu in late August or early September. This was deferred for later consideration, but the match with a suitable Te Aw’amutu team will be welcomed if it is possible to arrange same.
Arrangements for advertising the Ponsonby-Otahuhu match here on Saturday week are under way. Various requests for matches with teams anxious to visit Te Awamutu were received and considered as were invitations to travel to other centres. Replies will be forwarded in accordance with the commitments of the local union. *
A junior representative practice was asked for on Thursday night at 7.30. This was granted-, the practice to be held at Albert Park.
Team managers were appointed for duties next Saturday. The coaching film belonging to the Union will be screened at the Primary School, Teasdale Street, next Monday week has been suggested as a suitable night. Players of senior and junior grade teams chosen for Waikato representative practices are asked to forward after each series of such practices their travelling expenses incurred ,’n attending these try-outs. Failure to do this may result in the claim being not recognised. Statements of expenses should be sent to the secretary of the local union who will approve the claim and then forward it to the Waikato Rugby Union for payment.
The. draw for Saturday was pre sented and is published elsewhere.
