AGRICULTURAL INSTRUCTOR IN BAY OF PLENTY

Mr Noel Bowyer, at present teacher at the Hauturu School, has been appointed agricultural instructor for the Bay of plenty, and will leave at an early date to take up his new appointment, residing temporarily at Te Puke.

Mr Bowyer, who is a son of Mr W. Bowyer, of Honikiwi, local member of the Auckland Education Board, as a young man had practical farming experience, and when he gained his B.A. degree he qualified in biology as one of his.subjects. Mr Bbwyer has been teacher at the Hauturu School for five years, and his capabilities in that respect are demonstrated by the fact that three of his pupils have gained the Maori scholarships, of which only fifteen arc awarded in the Dominion annually. He has also taken an active interest in local affairs, having formed the Hauturu Tennis Club, been secretary

of the Kawhia Referees’ Association since its inception, and a valued worker for the Awaroa Sports Club.
