Glider Towed 300 Miles

A sail plane enthusiast from Australia, Mr A. Hardinge, covered 300 towing miles recently when he was towed from Mangere to Waharoa (near Matamata) behind a Tiger Moth flown by an Auckland Aero Club pilot, Mr F. McKeever. There he gave a demonstration to members of the Piako Aero Club. From Waharoa the sail plane was towed to Rukuhia where Mr Hardinge flew before a large crowd gathered for the Waikato Aero Club’s field day. At the end of the return flight to Mangere the sail plane was cast off at a height of 4000 feet from where it glided to the aerodrome.
