WEDDING

BROWN—BRIDGE The wedding of Patricia Shirley Bridge, only daughter of Mrs A. E. Bridge, Park Road, Te Awamutu, to John Robert Brown, eldest son of Mrs H. E. Brown, of Young Street, Te Awamutu, took place at St. John’s Anglican Church, Te Awamutu, on 15th January. 1949. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. D. Hogg, and Mjiss Barbara Swarbrick was organist. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr Malcolm Bridge, of Auckland, wore a frock featuring a silver lame bodice, long fitting sleeves, and flared peplum. The double skirt of tulle over satin fell to form a wide sweep at the back. Her embroidered veil was held in place by a spray of rosebuds and carnations, ana she carried a sheath of Christmas lilies, gladioli, and gypsojihila. In attendance was the bride’s sister-in-law, M'rs M. Bridge, of Auckland, as matron of honour, and Miss Jenna August as bridesmaid. Their frocks of maize silhoutte marquisette featured bouffant skirts, short sleeves, fichu necklines, and large bustle-bows at the back. Miss Anne Jensen, of Pokuru, was flower-girl, her applegreen frock being a replica of the bridesmaid’s. They all carried red bouquets of gerberas, carnations, and roses.

The bridegroom’s brother, Mr Peter Brown, of Hairini, was best man, and the bride’s brother, L.A.C. Graeme Bridge, was groomsman. At the reception, held in the Oddfellows’ Hall, the guests were received by Mrs Bridge, who wore a cornflower-blue suit and black accessories. The bridegroom’s mother wore a dusky pink suit, with black coat and accessories.

The bride and groom left by car on their honeymoon, the former wearing a blue two-piece suit and burgundy accessories.
