KAWHIA SCHOOLS

INCREASED ATTENDANCE EXTRA TEACHER POSSIBLE The Kawhia District High School was opened on Tuesday of last week with an initial attendance of 20 pupils, with the prospect of further enrolments at an early date. The classes are being taught in the Primary School, pending the erection of a new building. The attendance at the Primary School is 150, of whom 70 pupils are being taught in Ward’s Hall. The attendance of pupils is such as to entitle the school to an extra teacher. At present there arc five, two of whom are teaching in the hall. With the prevalent spell of hot weather, classes are taken occasionally during the afternoon on to the beach.
